I Have a Dream! (For tired parents.) . . . An MLK Holiday Special!

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest call for sleep in the history of our nation. It comes as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of our exhaustion!

I say to you today, my fellow parents, even though we face the difficulties of children who wake up early, I still have a dream.

It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. And if America is to be a great nation this must become true…

So, Children of America. . .

When the weekend is called a ‘long weekend’ . . .

Monday means you do not need to wake up early!

Let parents sleep!

Let parents sleep on the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let parents sleep near the mighty mountains of New York.

Let parents sleep throughout the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania! Let parents sleep on the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado! Let parents sleep on the curvaceous slopes of California!

But not only that; let parents sleep near the Stone Mountain of Georgia! (Unless they are racist, in which case wake them up by pouring water on them.)

Otherwise, let parents sleep near Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!

Let parents sleep near every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

Near every mountainside, let parents sleep.

And when this happens, when we allow parents to sleep, when we let parents sleep in every village and every hamlet, in every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all will be able to join hands and sing, “Not tired at last! Not tired at last! Thank God Almighty, we are not tired at last!”

(Happy MLK Day. Note: Most people in Georgia are NOT racist. God I need a nap.  –www.1000babysteps.com)
